“Submissions came from all over the world: from Europe, China, from South America and especially from Mexico, perhaps thanks to the previous winner. The standard of innovation associated with the name Mendelsohn was constantly confirmed by these excellent projects”, Bauwelt editor and jury member Ulrich Brinkmann reflects on the jury meeting.
Given the fact that the award was dedicated to Mendelsohn for the first time, this strong global response resonated even further: “Many times today, I found myself thinking of Mendelsohn: of his life in Germany, in Palestine, in England, and in the US. He worked on different continents and in different cultural contexts.”
