Johan Celsing is a Swedish architectural office founded by Johan Celsing in 1985. Celsing who is the principal is also the sole owner of the company. The office is based in Stockholm and has a branch in Malmö. The office employs around 15 architects and a varying number of personnel for administration, project managing, model making, renderings, film making etc. The personnel of the office has a wide spread background from very experienced architects to a younger group with education and influences from other European academies and Universities. To maintain the quality of the office output the personal of the firm is characterized by stability where key architects has served in the office over a several major projects. The practice has undertaken commissions in a relatively wide field of design; from the design of furniture to projects of urban planning.

A major part of the work of the firm has until recently been the design of public buildings and institutions. In recent years the practice has become more engaged also in the design of housing. The built work range from museums, exhibitions, buildings for universities, and offices. Lately the practice has received commisions also regarding buildings for ritual ceremonies such as a church, a crematorium and a mosque. A substantial part of the major commisions of the firm are results of competitions. Examples of such are the projects for the Museum of Sketches in Lund, Millesgården, Årsta Church, the Bonnier project in Stockholm and the new Crematorium at the Woodland Cemetery in Stockholm. In commissions the practice is normally involved through the entire period of conception to production of the building projects and then continuing into the gestation of interiors and furniture. Usually the office Johan Celsing Arkitektkontor is the general consultant in the design and tender documents process.

But in many projects, also for institutions, the office has been hired also as the project leader responsible for the complete process of procurement, production, cost, and quality control etc. The built works are mainly realized in Sweden but the office is also active in other parts of Scandinavia. Johan Celsing Arkitektkontor has been shortlisted and finalist for commissions regarding institutions such as school and museum in the USA. Frequently Johan Celsing has assignements in Scandinavia as juror in national or international competitions, such as the competition for the new HQ for the Danish Radio in Copenhagen or the current competition for the new central facilities for the Aalto University in Helsinki. The works of the practice has been published primarily in Sweden but also in major international publications such as A+U, Tokyo, Casabella, Milan, The Architectural Review, London, Metropolis, New York, Harvard Design Review, Boston, A 10, Amsterdam and others.

The works has also been presented in international exhibitions in France, Italy, USA, Japan, Denmark, and other countries. The work has also been featured in anthologies such as the Phadion Atlas of Architecture. Johan Celsing has been invited from numerous universities and institutions in Europe, the Middle East, USA and Latin America to present the works of the office in conferences and lectures. Adding to the profile of the office could be mentioned that Johan Celsing is professor of Advanced design of Architecture at KTH, The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Celsing is since 1994 elected member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Art and since 2010 elected member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
